WET DREAMS is it Natural or Spiritual?

WET DREAMS is it Natural or Spiritual?

Research by: RCB

Various schools of thought have delved into serious arguments on the issue - Wet dreams is it Natural or Spiritual? This calls for questioning on the reason for its essence and occurrence.
There are three whose actions are not recorded: a lunatic whose mind is deranged till he is restored to consciousness, a sleeper till he awakes, and a boy till he reaches puberty. (Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 3, Hadith No. 4389)
nocturnal emission, also called a wet dream, is an involuntary ejaculation of semen during sleep. The cause of these experiences is uncertain but popular wisdom puts them down to either erotic dreams or the buildup of semen in the prostate.

A wet dream is an accidental and unintentional thing. It is not a sin that can be counted against you that you found yourself to have ejaculated when you woke up from your sleep. Medical scientists are of the notion that nocturnal emission/wet dream is a natural help for a release of tension in men especially.

No single man is comfortable with wet dreams for so many reasons. Most of the common wet dreams are simply that the man dreams he was having sex with a woman or a woman dreaming of having sex with a man or vice versa, but somehow they are actually masturbating while the dream is occurring. The scientists are of the opinion that men always think about sex a lot.

A nocturnal emission/ wet dream are common during adolescence ages, early young adult years or any time after puberty. Some people do wake up during a wet dream while some don’t wake up, but sleep all through just to wake up later and discover that they have ejaculated.

Some wake-up and end it with masturbation while some get disturbed about it and prefer to seek solutions from both the medics and spiritualists.

Based on research, many Medical scientists have several postulations to support a nocturnal emission as a natural thing that shouldn’t get anyone bothered. They claim its one of the ways by which the Human Body System {HBS} eases its self of sexual stress.

But from the religious angle, mostly the Africans believe that there can be more to a wet dream than meets the eye (maybe diabolic!). Many religions hold the view that nocturnal emissions rob a male of his virility or are polluting.

1. CHRISTIANITY perception of wet dreams

Wet dreams can become a deliverance case depending on how you view your case. The point to note here is that the powers of darkness can delve into natural thing to manipulate it for their wicked operation.
EPHESIANS. 6:12-13. ESV
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
Wet dreams can be influenced by the unseen spirits, so the sexual drive is but a small cause of wet dream in that case.
According to the Bible, a nocturnal emission renders a man impure and that this can only be remedied by ritual washing.
Leviticus 15:16-17 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
16 ‘Now if a man has a seminal emission, he shall bathe all his body in water and be unclean until evening.
17 As for any garment or any leather on which there is seminal emission, it shall be washed with water and be unclean until evening.
It is never a crime to do or go for deliverance prayers when your wet dreams become too regular, alarming and disturbing. If you are an addictive masturbate, engage yourself in prayer and fasting. Normal or abnormal situations needs prayers.
God gives His beloved SLEEP! Psalms.127:2.

Train yourself to resist the devil and the temptation to have wet dream and masturbation, be pure in your heart and mind, agree that it is not natural and you will overcome it. Quote Scriptures before sleeping and anytime you wake up during the night.

MUSLIM perception of wet dreams

A Muslim youth that has a wet dream. What should he do?
(a) Assuming it occurs before Sahar in the holy month of Ramadan?
(b) Assuming it happens after Sahar? What about fajr prayers?
(c) What is the method of taking bath for purification?
(d) Is it sinful if wet dream occurs?

Answered by - D. Ahmed
(a) If a person gets a wet dream before sahar in the month of Ramadan and has time to take Ghusle Janaba (bath for purification), then he should do it, and then eat his sahar. However, if he does not have the time for Ghusl, he should take Ghusl before the Fajr Prayer.

(b) If a person gets a wet dream after taking sahar in the state of Saum, he should take Ghusl as soon as he wakes up. One’s fast does not break by wet dreams. Even if he happens to be in the state of Janaba for some time, there is nothing wrong in it. He should take a Ghusl before offering any Salaah/Prayer.

Narrated Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman.
My father and I went to Aisha (R.A.) and she said , ” I testify that Allah’s Messenger at times used to get up in the morning in a state of Janaba from sexual intercourse, not from a wet dream, and then he would fast that day.”(Shaih Bukhari, Vol. No. 3, Hadith No. 1931)
(c) The right way of performing a bath for purification i.e. Ghusle Janaba is given in the following Hadith:
Narrated Maimuna, the wife of the Prophet (Phuh):
Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) performed ablution like that for the Salat (prayer) but did not wash his feet. He washed off the discharged from his private parts and then poured water over his body. He withdrew his feet from that place (the place where he took the bath) and then washed them. And that was his way of taking the bath of Janaba. (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol. 1, Hadith No. 249)
(d) There is nothing wrong in getting wet dreams nor is it a sin, as mentioned in the following Hadith:
Narrated Ali Ibn Abu Talib
There are three whose actions are not recorded: a lunatic whose mind is deranged till he is restored to consciousness, a sleeper till he awakes, and a boy till he reaches puberty. (Sunan Abu Dawood Vol. 3, Hadith No. 4389)

BUDDHISM perception of wet dreams

The   Manusmuçti says: `A Brahmin student of the Vedas who has had a night emission should bathe, worship the sun, and chant three times the Vedic verse that begins
“Let my virility return to me again”
According to the Bible, a nocturnal emission renders a man impure and that this can only be remedied by ritual washing (Leviticus 15, 16-17).
The Vinaya, the Buddhist monastic rules, says that masturbation is an offence, but having a nocturnal emission is not.
The Buddha mentioned that nocturnal emissions occur as `a result of a dream' (supinantena, Vin.I,294).

He also said that if a monk falls to sleep carefully and mindfully he is less likely to have one.

During the Third Council, some participants maintained that an enlightened male, an arhat (Theravada Buddhism defines arhat (Sanskrit) or arahant (Pali) as "one who is worthy" or as a "perfected person" having attained nirvana), could have a nocturnal emission and that these experiences were caused by malevolent gods. Both ideas were contradicted by the orthodox monks (Kv.163).

Music in West African churches Article  · January 1956 E.G. Parrinder It has been estimated that some twenty million Africans have become Christians; more than the total number of Christians in all the countries of Asia. This great movement towards Christianity is undoubtedly due largely to the breakdown of traditional African ways of life. In West Africa Islam also has profited by the change to extend its sway, especially in Northern Nigeria and parallel territories but hardly at all in Eastern Nigeria or the lower Gold Coast. The importance of music in African religious life is widely recognised, but this now needs to be considered in its modern forms and in the new religions which have largely replaced the old. It is curious that Islam, which bans all music in the mosque, should be so successful. But outside the mosque Muslims are notorious for their festivals and dances, and these have a great popular appeal. A full study of modern African Muslim music needs yet...

Drumming in Worship: Experiencing God's heartbeat

Drumming in Worship: Experiencing God's heartbeat What is it about percussion that appeals to worshipers in so many cultures? How does drumming together help Christians build community? By: Joan Huyser-Honig John Meulendyk, pastoral lay assistant at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, could plainly see the problems facing Ferndale, Michigan. Like many inner-ring suburbs of Detroit, Ferndale is losing people, jobs, and income. Meulendyk gathered five women at his church to pray and discern how to address these changes. "We wanted to do a worship renewal project that would be ecumenical, something to unite the congregations in our community. We sat in prayer. We thought about this question: If we put aside all the theology, what unites us? "It's our heart beat. We all have that in common. And 90 perce...
